I would like to be able to move my cursor right and left through word letters with the keyboard arrow keys.

Thank you for your feedback! That's something we'll add to our list - a great idea.

Left and right arrow keys should now work for those who wish to use them to navigate forward and backward through the grid. (tab and shift+tab also do the same thing). We're going to experiment to see if up/down arrows might be something we can add in the future. Thanks again for the suggestion!
(You may need to shift+refresh on the gameplay page in order to force the new functions to load.) |

Up and down arrow keys should now work (for the grid only). We've also added some highlighting so that the currently active squares are more easily visible.

That definitely helped! Since you were so quick to do that (no good deed goes unpunished), how about a way to move between words. This is useful when you are solving clues and want to skip on to the next word. Maybe up and down arrows or tab and shift-tab?

I have been coming to this site on and off for a few years now. I was just so tickled to see it ramped up to this. And a forum is nice to bounce ideas off of. I like being able to delete forward, but can we delete backward? I think I tried the back space and it didn't work.
I would like a way to quit a game -- give up and see the answer. Or not see it, whatever. It's just that sometimes I get so stuck and maybe exhaust my hints and still don't get it - it would be nice to have a quit button. There was a puzzle I played today that had a typo in it, and if I remembered the quote I'm sure that would be helpful but I draw a blank. Sorry - but the clue was something like 'Gentled back and forth motion'......when it should have read "gentle". The word was "rocking'. Thanks so much for the great work on this site. Really enjoy playing it - I've been buying Dell Variety Puzzle books for thirty years and got hooked on Anacrostics in them. ![]() |

Thanks for the feedback! I'll see what I can do in terms of getting the backspace to work, as well as using arrow keys to navigate between words.
Giving up and getting the answer to the puzzle is a bit tricky - we've offered this on other sites in the past and its been abused by users trying to mine our data. We may decide to eventually open up the hints function to provide more than just the 5 sets of 3 it currently does - that may provide an alternate solution to the problem. Many thanks on reporting the typos - as these are all brand new puzzles, there's bound to be a few. There's actually a comment form on the "Congrats!" page for every puzzle - if you register your bug reports there it goes into a system that I monitor daily. Glad you're enjoying the new site! Rarely do I want an answer - just once in a while you get that one zinger you know?
But I do understand how you explained it. If I just quit by hitting the PLAY button to start a new puzzle, does that affect my stats any>?Good idea about the comment box - I just found that! I played the Cryptograms too - but it wouldn't let me get a hint - stating I couldn't as long as I was signed in and in competition mode. ?? K |

Can I make a suggestion? I know we are allowed 5 hints - so after the fifth, the hint button shouldn't be clickable - instead is lets you request the hint but says "Sorry, etc". It's an unnecessary step that kinda eats into your solving time. (Although, if you've taken 5 hints your solving time is pretty much pathetic by then! Ha!)
